Health Class structure and assignments that are due.
When a student has Health Class on Tuesdays: Study Guides, Vocabulary with Sentences, Health Article and Miscellaneous assignments will be collected and graded.
When a students class meets on a Wednesday: Study Guides, Vocabulary with Sentences, Health Article and Miscellaneous assignments will be collected and graded.
Health Articles:
Each time your child's class meets on a Wednesday: A Currents Event, Health Article from a newspaper, a magazine, the internet, or any other reliable source of accurate information. All students were given a "Sample Health Article" on their first day of class and it can be found in there "3 Ring Binder". All of the Articles that they turn in must be formatted exactly like the "Sample" When in doubt LOOK AT THE SAMPLE.
They must be "Titled, numbered, IE: Health Article #4", sumerized, typed, double spaced and 3/4 of a page in length, at least two to three sentences need to be single spaced with your opinion and Located at the Bottom of the Page and it must have the Article attached. Font size must be size 12
Projects:
There will be a total of 4 projects for the semester.
Project 1: Making New Friends
Project 2: Nutrition and Exercise Over the Years
Project 3: Tolerance
Project 4: Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs
Criteria:
Size: The ideal size of the poster should be 12 x 14 inches, this makes it easier to store within the classroom and to post up around campus for display.
Content: The content of each poster is discussed at detail in each class, there are also numerous samples are on display in the classroom, and the Web. allows your child's resources to be limitless.
Due Dates: All projects will be due on the last regularly scheduled class of the month. Students will have 3-4 weeks to complete this project and submit it in a timely manner.
Evaluation- Projects will total 20% of each students grade.
Notebooks:
College Preparation, Organization and Homework Assignments Logged Daily, will be stressed by having each student monitor their work and progress by keeping an organized notebook.
Each student is required to have: a 1" inch 3 ring binder. The binder should be white with a clear cover front and back in order to slip in a cover page uniquely identifying their book from other students. Each student is to make a cover that represents their hobbies, interests, and things that they best identify with.
Notebook Tabs: Students will need 5 tabs for separate sections in which to place course materials and information as follows.

All materials submitted, tests, quizzes, etc. will be collected, graded, and returned for students to catalog into their binders which provides for their immediate feedback. Students keep a running tally of grades for every assignment given. As a parent, you can access their grades and progress, by checking their notebook at home on any given day. Students will be given a grade on their notebook.
Evaluation- Their notebook will be collected twice during the semester and worth 15% of each students grade.
Class Activities and Participation:
Each student will be required to participate in daily class activities. All students will be expected to have positive interaction with instructor, classmates, and guest speakers. Individual and group participation will be worth 20%.
