Get a jump on your service learning hours for next year by becoming a part of the Teen Advisory Board over the summer! Meetings rotate between the Agoura and Westlake public libraries.  The next meeting is June 29th, 11-12pm at the Westlake public library.  Check out this flyer for more information.

Weekly Bulletin for 6/6 PDF Print E-mail
Off Campus Lunch Pass: Incoming 11th graders (current 10th graders), your parents may come into the Attendance Office if you would like to request an off campus lunch pass for next year. Your off lunch pass will be good for two years, as long as you maintain a 2.0 GPA, as well as scoring proficient or above on a selected STAR TEST subject, or an increase of 3% from the previous year. Incoming 12th Graders (current 11th graders), if you currently have an off campus lunch pass, your parents do NOT have to fill out another form. If you DO NOT currently have an off campus lunch pass, a parent must come into the Attendance Office to sign a form.
Lost and Found: If you lost any personal items, please check the Lost and Found outside of the Attendance Office. All lost items will be donated to charity on Monday, June 10.
Book Lockers: This is a reminder that everything must be removed from your locker by Wednesday, June 12. Anything left in lockers will be discarded. Returning students will have the same locker next year. Be sure to put your locker number, keys or combination in a safe place so that you will not need to buy a new lock next year. 
Congratulations to Senior AHS Student, Sean FitzWilliam who won the Logo Contest to represent the Las Virgenes School District 50th Anniversary. He was honored at the district’s celebration on May 28th. His logo will be showcased on the Las Virgenes school district’s website. 
 
ACTIVITIES
 
Math Honors Society and the Agoura High School Music Program are Hosting Broadway Night: A fantastic show featuring none other than Agoura’s fabulous teachers and students. Our teachers will be belting out show tunes, and the entertainment will be timeless…so purchase a ticket in room M-10 or the music room for $10. The show will be on Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 pm, so don’t break a leg and be there!
Yearbooks: Come to the AAC during support, nutrition or lunch to pick up your yearbook. You must have your school I.D. card to pick one up. 
The Shave It Truck  will be here this Friday, June 7th at lunch in the Main Quad.  Make sure to bring money so you can buy delicious shaved ice with ice cream!
 
SENIORS
 
Prom Pictures: If you had pictures taken at Prom by Peloso Photography, they have arrived. Please pick them up in the AAC. 
Attention Current IB Seniors: If you would like a transcript of your IB results sent to a university, you must let Mr. Staiano know by this Friday, June 7th
Any Senior who has not Completed Service Learning Hours on Aeries – Please come to room C-1. Those seniors who do not fulfill the 15 hour requirement, will not receive a diploma and the transcripts will red that all graduation requirements were not met. 
Senior Beach Trip will be on Monday, June 10th. Tickets are on sale in the AAC only through TODAY, June 5th, as a permission slip must be signed and turned in along with $5.00. The ticket includes transportation and lunch. Permission slips are available on the school website and in the AAC.  
Senior Brunch will be on Tuesday, June 11th at the Hyatt Hotel in Westlake Village. Students are required to bring a completed field trip permission slip (available in the Attendance Office or AAC) to check in at the 9:00am event. Students are not to return the completed form to school; they are to turn it in as they check in at the Hyatt on June 11, 2013.
Grad Nite! This Friday, June 7th, is the last day to sign up for Grad Nite, the all-night party at a secret location that follows the graduation ceremony. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to celebrate with your class one last time. The required forms (registration form and permission slip) are available on the school website. Forms and payment should be turned in to the Grad Nite box in the Main Office by the end of the school day on Friday. If you have any questions, please call Laurel Murray at 818-458-9710. 
 
 
 
Requests for Final Transcripts will be accepted in the Counseling Office until June 7th. The cost is $5.00 per transcript, payable at the time of your request. Be prepared to provide the name and address of the college and whether it should be sent by mail or edocs. Don’t wait! Order your transcripts early – it will be one less thing for you to have to think about during this busy and exiting time in your life. 
ACADEMICS
 
College App Boot Camp Registration: Danny Ruderman, a renowned college counselor is offering an effective workshop that will help your future college student take on the overwhelming process that is college applications. He and his group of trained professionals will personally walk your student through the process with expert advice and their insight into the college system. This extraordinary workshop offers two days (Aug. 17-18) of college help for the mere price of $200 or $75 for the online course. Registration and more information are online at collegeappbootcamps.com. Prices go up after June 15th.
IB History of the Americas Students: There will be a quick mandatory meeting today, June 5th during lunch in room D-1. The summer assignment will be given at this time.
Attention all Future AP US History Students: If you are registered for APUSH for the 2013 – 14 school year, there will be a mandatory meeting bout the summer assignment this Thursday, June 6th  at lunch in room D-8. The meeting will be short, but important so be there!
Attention all Students who are Taking AP Physics Next Year: There will be a mandatory meeting on Thursday, June 6th in room B-1 at the beginning of lunch. The meeting will only last approximately five minutes; please be prompt. 
Attention all Students who are Taking Pre IB Algebra II next Year: If you have not gotten the summer assignment, please come to room C-6 to pick it up. 
Attention Fall 2013 IB Students: Please check the IB page on the AHS website for any summer assignments you may have BEFORE school gets out for the summer. If you have any questions regarding the summer assignments, please contact the teacher of that course. 
Message from the Media Center:    All textbooks will be due by 6th period, Tuesday, June 12, 2013. Yearbooks, diplomas, caps and gowns, schedules for the fall semester will be held for students who have outstanding library books and textbooks or have fines. Seniors: You are responsible for returning your own textbooks. You must clear all Media Center obligations by 6th period, Thursday June 7th in order to receive your cap and gown for graduation. The Library/Media Center will be open until 2:00 pm on June 19th and will not re-open until August. Please check with the Media Center if you have any questions.  
Attention Next Year’s Juniors and Seniors: Do you drive your own car? Are you looking for a fun elective for next year? Do you think you might like working with kids? Then you should sign up for the Careers in Education class for next year. This elective gets you five credits toward graduation requirements and most of the time you are off campus helping out in local elementary classrooms. Next year’s class will have a new teacher, Miss Davis, from the English Department. She’s a former elementary teacher and she’ll be sure to make the class fun and interesting. Also, if you take this class, it looks great on applications for college and summer jobs. It may even give you an edge in being chosen as an Outdoor Ed Counselor next year. Please see your counselor to sign up.
Pierce College Classes – Fall 2013: Registration for Pierce College classes for the Fall is going on now. The follow classes will be offered on the AHS campus: Elementary Astronomy, Introduction to Business, History of Motion Pictures, Oral Communications, and Intermediate Reading and Composition. Note:   High school students do not pay tuition for community college classes. Please go to www.piercecollege.edu and click on “off-campus offerings” for more details. If you have any questions, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. PAEC Donations and Naming Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

The opening of the new Performing Arts Education Centers of Las Virgenes at Agoura
High School provides a unique opportunity for Booster Club and PFA/PFC arts
supporters to partner with the LVUSD Beacon for the Arts Fund and become integral
founding partners of these extraordinary new Centers.

Donors can “purchase” a seat that will include a plaque with their name. Seats
“purchased” by JANUARY 31, 2013, will have the one-time-only FOUNDER designation. In future
years, seat plaques will be designated with the year of the donation.  For more information about naming a seat, please see the attached flier.

Donors also have the opportunity to name the building, a theater, a space or a room in the new Center.  For more information about this program, please see read the attached flier.

LVUSD EdTech Service Learning 
Student Volunteer Opportunity

LVUSD high school students now have the opportunity to earn their iService Learning hours working in the EDTech department.  If you love technology this is a great opportunity to work in your school community while completing your iService hours.  All potential volunteers need to complete the volunteer questionnaire form.  Our EdTech leaders will then assess the questionnaires and a volunteer work plan will be developed based on the applicant’s experience.

Some of the opportunities that EdTech volunteers may be placed are:

Update Moodle Courses

Processing equipment in WHD

Setting up iPads and using the Airwatch management system

Inventory/order requests

Answering the phone 

E-waste Processing

Image Computers

Database maintenance

Installing software on computers

Tasks are subject to change depending on the current needs of the district EdTech office or a specific school sites needs.

Each volunteer will be assigned an EdTech liaison to create the volunteer work plan, train the volunteer and develop a weekly work schedule. Bring completed forms to your counseling department.
