T-Shirt Design Contest PDF Print E-mail
The Every 15 Minutes committee is looking for a memorable design for the E15M 2015 t-shirt.  This Contest is open to all AHS students!  Designs can be submitted in any hi-res format.  Submit your design to Mrs. McGrady via email at mmcgrady@lvusd.org.  Deadline for submission is Friday, February 20.  The winning design will be used for the t-shirts and the memorial service program.  The winning artist will receive a t-shirt and  acknowledgement in the memorial program and the E15M DVD.

The Annual AHS Showcase is scheduled for February11, beginning at 5:45 in the evening.  The tours and showcase exhibits will begin at 7:00 pm.  More information will be available soon.
Important CAHSEE Information PDF Print E-mail
On Tuesday and Wednesday, February 5th and 6th, Agoura High School will be administering the California High School Exit Exam to all 10th graders and 12th graders that need to pass the exam. Passing the CAHSEE in both English and Math is a requirement in order to receive a Las Virgenes Unified School District diploma.


The tests are untimed. Generally, students complete the test right before lunch time. A snack will be served mid-way through the exam.
  • Tuesday, February 3, 2015 - 8:40 AM English Language Arts test, 4.5+ hours
  • Wednesday, February 4, 2015 - 8:40 AM Math test, 4+ hours
Both Tuesday and Wednesday are regular school days; there will be 0 period and 10th grade students must report to their classes in the afternoon following their test.

Free tutoring by credentialed teachers is available for the exam. Students may bring their practice CAHSEE workbooks with them to the tutoring. Students still desiring a practice workbook may get them from their English or Math teacher or from the CAHSEE tutor. Free tutoring is available: see the schedule below.

Please note: Students may not bring iPods, telephones, calculators, laptops, computers, or any other electronic device with them to the test. Students may bring a free reading book or magazine with them. Be sure to tell them to bring a jacket - sometimes it is cold in the gym!!

AHS 50th Anniversary Commemorative T-shirts and Sweatshirts are now available at the Activity and Athletic Center. T-shirts are $15 and Sweatshirts are $30. Seniors – this is your year! Get them while they last.

Do You Want to be a Part of AHS History? Do you love to perform but can’t sing? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, come to the Lip Sync interest meeting on Thursday, January 29th at lunch in room A-1. This year will be the 30th annual AHS Lip Sync, so get ready for a historically great show!

Attention All! If you missed the Hypnotist Show interest meeting, it is not too late to participate in the show. Waivers are available in room K-4 and are due no later than this Friday, January 30th. Be ready to be amazed!!

Hot Spots this Friday at nutrition in the Main Quad! Tickets are only $1 and you could win parking for a month.

Blood Drive on February 5th: Come to room K-4 to sign up for the next blood drive on February 5th. You must be 16 years or older and parents are welcome to sign up as well. Come to room K-4 with any questions

The Agoura Showcase will be on Wednesday, February 11th. A meeting for incoming freshman and their parents will be held in the gym at 5:45pm. This gives incoming students and their parents an overview of opportunities when you are a part of Agoura High School. Campus tours and academic information will be available. A separate meeting will be held at 5:45pm in the PAEC for 10th and 11th grade parents. This meeting will address timelines and planning for the road to life after high school.

Last Chance to Pre-order a Yearbook: If you did not order a yearbook during registration, February 20th is the last day to pre-order one. You may purchase them on the webstore or in the AAC. The cost is $95 w/ASB and $105 without.

T-shirt Contest Open to All AHS Students! We need a memorable design for the 2015 Every 15 Minutes t-shirts. Every 15 Minutes is a national program held every two years on the AHS campus. It is intended to challenge students to consider the risks of drinking and driving, though a simulated drunk driving accident that will occur in front of the school. The t-shirts will be black, and the designs are generally dark themes with images of the grim reaper and/or clocks that indicate that every 15 minutes someone dies in an alcohol-related accident. Designs can be submitted in any hi-resolution format. Submit your design to Mrs. McGrady at mmcgrady@lvusd.org. Deadline for submission is Friday, February 20th. The winning artist will receive a t-shirt and acknowledgement in the memorial program and E15M DVD.


Track and Field Tryouts:   Tryouts for any new athletes interested in track and field this spring will be on this Wednesday, January 28th at 3:15 on the track. You MUST be cleared from the AAC prior to trying out. If you have any questions, please go to the AAC.

The Boys Basketball Team has announced that Senior night will be held on Tuesday, February 10th. Please join us in the gym as we recognize our Senior Chargers who will be playing their last home game of the year. The ceremony will take place before the start of the varsity game. Congratulations to all of the senior players!

Starting February 1st, Kids Helping Kidsis partnering with Strong Villages to sponsor a donation drive for rural villages in Belize. They are collecting medicinal and dental supplies, sports equipment, backpacks, and shoes. Flip Flops and tooth brushes are especially needed. Please bring your donations to your fourth period class. The homeroom class with the most donated supplies will win a pizza party. Please donate!


AP Exams are on sale in the AAC through February 20th and on the school webstore through February 22nd. The cost per AP Exam is $100; $150 for the Chinese and Japanese exam. Students must return the Student/Parent Sign-off form when purchasing the AP Exams at the AAC. No exam orders will be accepted without this form. If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Wright at cwright@lvusd.org.  

Message from the Media Center: As a reminder the Media Center will be closed on February 3rd and 4th due to CAHSEE testing. If you have any questions, please contact the Media Center.

Book Sale: The Media Center is having a book sale. Staff and students are welcome to come in and browse. Funds will go towards the purchase of new library materials. Thank you for your support.

Second Semester Schedule Changes: Request for Program Change forms are available in the Counseling Office. These are requests for class changes only – no teacher changes. We will time stamp all requests in the order they are received. Changes will be made based on availability. The deadline to turn in your completed form is Friday, February 6th. If you have any questions, please come to the Counseling Office.

CAHSEE: All 10th graders will take the California High School Exit Exams on February 3rd and 4th. All students must pass the CAHSEE in both English and Math in addition to meeting high school graduation credits, to receive a high school diploma. Free review sessions are scheduled and no pre-registration is necessary. Students may attend any session or all of them:

AHS Counselors will be available February 9th – 12th in room C-2 (Computer Lab) during support Period to assist students with navigating Naviance ( i.e. signing on and course selection).

AP or Honors Chemistry: There will be an informational meeting for all students interested in taking either AP Chemistry or Honors Chemistry next year on Thursday, February 12th at lunch in room A-1. If you have any questions, please ask Ms. Prater or Ms. Elman for more information.

Do you Need Help in English? English Honor Society has tutors in room K-9 every day during Support Period. Come get help with essays, grammar, and anything else English related.

Numbers got you Down? Need help with math? If so, come to room M-10 for free, one-on-one tutoring by our amazing math tutors. Math Tutoring is open during support, lunch and 6th period.
