College Banners PDF Print E-mail
ASB is selling college acceptance banners to graduating Seniors.  The  $40, 3' x 18" vinyl banners, include the Senior's name and college they are accepted to.  The banners will be hung on the fence around the track during the graduation ceremony and can be taken home.  For more information and to order the banners, please see the Senior College Banners.
 
Naviance Course Selection PDF Print E-mail
Naviance will be open for students to make Course Selections until Friday, March 28.  If students need help signing on to Naviance, please come to the Counseling Office.  Once students "save and validate" their Course Selections in Naviance they can no longer make changes, but their Counselor can.  The final deadline to make changes is Friday, May 3.

AHS Counselors will be meeting one-on-one with each student in grades 9,10, & 11 to review their Course Selections during the school day beginning Monday, March 31, through Thursday, May 1.

ACTIVITIES

College Banner Sale: ASB is selling college acceptance banners to graduating seniors. These will be vinyl banners that include the senior’s name and college they are accepted to. ACADEMICS

AP/Honors English: There will be a meeting today, April 15th at lunch in room K-9 for anyone interested in taking the test to waiver into Honors or AP English.

Parent Drop-Ins in AHS Media Center: AHS Counselors will be available to parents and students to answer questions regarding course selections on the following dates:

                                 Thursday, May 8th: 3:00 -6:00pm (Grades 8 – 11)

ATHLETICS

Agoura High School Athletic Physicals:Physicals for the 2014 – 15 school year will be held at Exer Urgent Care in Calabasas on Saturday, May 17th and Saturday, May 31st. The cost is $40 per physical and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the AHS Athletic Department. Please see the attached flier and schedule for detailed information.

Power Plant BBQ: Come support the swim team on Wednesday, April 16th on the pool deck right after school. There will be a Power Plant BBQ. Free food for those who wear a Power Plant shirt and everyone attending will get 10 spirit points.

The Habit Fundraiser: Please support the Agoura High Track and Field team. Eat at The Habit in Agoura on Thursday, April 17th from 3:00 – 9:00pm. Present the attached flier and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the AHS track program.

SENIORS

Senior Prom will be Saturday, May 17th at the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. Tickets are currently available on the webstore for $95 per person. In person ticket sales will take place April 17th through May 1st in the AAC. Have you thought about what to wear or how to do your make-up? Well, Friars Tux and Glamorous have got your backs. Don’t forget to grab a flier when you pick your seating arrangements, and they will donate a portion of your purchase back to AHS.

Senior Events: The deadline to buy all senior events is rapidly approaching. The last day is Thursday, May 1st. All items can be purchased in the AAC or on the webstore. Lists are posted outside of the AAC of those who have purchased. Be sure to check them.

SERVICE LEARNING

The City of Agoura Hills is having their first “Community Service Days” on Saturday, May 3rd, from 8:00am – 1:00pm. Students can sign up online at www.cityofagourahills.volunteerhub.com or on May 3rd at the actual event at Chumash Park.

Attention all students: There is a great opportunity to get service learning hours this Friday, April 18th from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Malibu Bluffs.  They are having an "Easter Hoppening" and they need volunteers to help with this fun even.  Please contact malibucity.org or call 310-317-1364.

Still need a few more community service hours for the year? If you are free spring break, and enjoy the game of basketball, we have the job for you! Coach Conley Oliver is hosting a basketball tournament in conjunction with AYBA on April 26 & 27, and we are in need of scorekeepers and ticket sellers. ALL SENIORS PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR SERVICE LEARNING HOURS ARE DUE BY MAY 12, 2014

Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5, 2014- Agoura High School will be sponsoring the "Relay for Life."  This event supports the American Cancer Society.  If you need service learning hours--you can get 16 hours for both days!  Please sign up now at relayforlife.org and go to Agoura HIgh School and sign up for a team.

The Calabasas City Hall- is offering some wonderful service learning opportunities. 
The Teen Court- under the Community Services Dept. needs student volunteers and also has summer positions for high school students at their parks as aides and couunselors.
The Teen Advisory Committee- sponsors various activities that also need volunteers.  Please contact Jeff Rubin at [email protected]
The Teen Library Committee is in charge of events throughout the year and volunteers are needed for the summer reading programs.
City Hall also offers summer internships for high school students which might include the planning dept., human resources and public works. This would fulfill service learning requirements.  Contact Karilyn Steward at [email protected]

Tuesday, April 8th - Saturday, April 12, 2014- Agoura High School PAEC presents "INTO THE WOODS". A modern twist on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format.
Tuesday, April 8th- Saturday, April 12, 2014- Calabasas High School PAEC presents "Young Frankenstein".  From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation The Producers comes this monster new musical comedy.
Saturday, April 19, 2014- Agoura PAEC presents--Kids Helping Kids: An Intimate Evening with Five for Fighting.  A benefit concert featuring Five for Fighting to raise money to help kids in our community and abroad.

Wednesday, April 9, 2014 Agoura HIgh School come and participate in the "Service Learning Fair." At nutrition, you will have an opportunity to sign up for "service learning projects."  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Diament in room C1.

Thursday, April 10, 2014-  Yerba Buena Elementary School is having their annual "Family Science Night".  They need 20 to 30 volunteers to staff activity tables from 5:30 pm- 8:00 pm.  They will provide free pizza to the volunteers.  Please contact Susan Kindelt at [email protected].

Sunday, May 3, 2014-   Community Service Days will take place at 10:00 am at Chumash Park.  There will be 8-10 projects to sign up for.  A great opportunity to get service learning hours.

Friday, April 18, 2014- 9:00am-9:00pm at Malibu Bluffs Park an "Easter Hoppening" and "Teen Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt." Help with set-up, arts and crafts, Easter bunny assistant, bounce back house assistant.

Shane's Inspiration- is a non-profit organization that is committed to creating inclusive playgrounds and programs that unite children of all abilities.  Shane's Club is a free club for children of all abilities that meets monthly for a "Play date" at one of Shane's Inspiration's Inclusive Playgrounds.  They need your help.  Please contact Marjorie at 818- 988- 5676 ext. 101 or email her at [email protected].   Shane's club usually meets on the last Saturday of every month  from 10:30 am- 1:00 pm.

Straight -Up- is a non-profit organization whose mission is to engage youth ages 12-25 in projects and advocacy to reduce underage and binge drinking, impaired driving and drug abuse.  Volunteers can help by  participating in community and peer presentations, video production, writing, social media outreach and community assessments. A Monster to Love is an organization that designs and sews adorable, wacky stuffed monsters and sends them to children in need all over the country.  Michele Durant is a seamstress that will open her home in Agoura Hills to students who  are interested in creating these adorable monsters.  Supplies may be donated by the students or will be provided by the Durant Family.  Meeting will be held on the weekends.  Please call Michele at  818- 261-1977.

The art teacher at Sumac Elementary School needs help with cutting paper, preparation for art projects, mounting completed art work and creating bulletin board displays.   Have fun while you earn service learning hours. Contact Carol Mallett at 805-428-1022 or [email protected]
