Attendance Responsibilities for Students and Parents |
|
|
|
All absences must be cleared within 72 hours.
Full Day Absences:
A student can clear a full day absence by:
A. Having a parent call the school to report the full day absences within 72 hours. 818-889-5381
B. Upon his/her return, the student can bring a note to school signed by the parent, clearing the absence. Please include the student's first and last name, date(s) of absence and the reason in the note.
Students returning to school after an absence, with a note from a parent, can drop the note off at the Attendance Office for verification.
Students returning to school after an absence whose parents have called to excuse the absence can go straight to firs or second period.
All absences not cleared with 72 hours will be considered truant and assignments will not be allowed to be made up for credit. Students wifi automatically be drop/failed from classes with three (3) unverified absences. Parents will be notified by phone and by mail regarding unverified absences.
Part Day Absences:
Students leaving campus for any reason throughout the normal school day must check out through the Attendance Office.
A student may check out during the day if:
A. They have a signed note from the parent stating the reason for leaving and the time required to check out. If the student is leaving for a doctor or dentist appointment, doctor’s verification must be presented upon the student’s return to school.
B. A parent phones the Attendance Office and checks the student out of school.
Important Notes:
- Students leaving campus for any reason MUST SIGN OUT at the Attendance Office or Health Office.
- Students MUST SIGN IN at the Attendance Office upon return.
- Students must be in school all day in order to practice or participate in a game, practice, rehearsal or performance. Requests for exceptions must be made through the Attendance Office.
- Students leaving campus for any reason and not checking out through the Attendance Office or Health Office will be considered truant for that particular class period. A parent phone call WILL NOT clear a truant or unverified absence when the student has left campus without authorization.
Students Arriving Late to School
When a student arrives late, they must sign in (signature and arrival time) at the Attendance Office. A note or a phone call from his/her parent within 72 hours is needed to clear the absence. Students arriving at school between 7:00 a.rn. and 7:30 a.m. (0 period) or 8:40 a.m 9:10 a.m.(with no 0 period) are considered unexcused tardy. A doctor/dentist visit ALWAYS requires verification from the doctor or dentist.
