The Las Virgenes Unified School District encourages diverse outside
reading as a desirable student goal. In order to encourage such
reading, and still have some degree of control over reading material
choices, AHS teachers offer the parent/guardian the opportunity
to participate in selecting books that are part of the outside reading
program.
Please note the choices on the Outside Reading Consent Form and sign
either “A” or “B.” Should you sign “B,” the student will be
responsible for obtaining your signed approval for each novel
chosen. No student will need permission to read district-approved
novels from the curriculum (i.e. Lord
of the Flies, To Kill a
Mockingbird, The Adventures
of Huckleberry Finn, etc.), only works selected for the outside
reading program. The student will be required to return the
signed form during the first weeks of school.
